The Death Adder is listed as Vulnerable under the Nature Conservation Act 1992. In the shire it is uncommon, occurring sparsely in most undisturbed habitat types. A 'bio-indicator' of habitat quality and level of disturbance. Shelters under leaf-litter and 'skirts' of low shrubs and tussocks. Extremely secretive. Active by day or night.
